• Better Access from the Other Side of the Screen – $25.00
  The expanded use of technology means that VRI is now a part of all of our work, whether we are the interpreters on screen or in positions
  to guide service providers and clients in using best practices. In this workshop, participants will reflect on their own practice and explore strategies for providing effective and accessibility-forward communication in virtual spaces. Using real world examples, participants will learn how to consider and implement specific tools before, during, and after VRI appointments to improve Deaf and hearing client experiences.
• From Community to Classroom: What Interpreters Need to Know Before Entering the Classroom – $25.00
• Legal Interpreting in SC; An Overview of Practice – $25.00
  Legal interpreting is much more than high profile murder cases with multiple teams of interpreters. It includes bond court, magistrate court, specialty courts, family court and general sessions court. This workshop will provide a general overview of the various courts, and what working interpreters should expect in this setting.

  This interactive workshop empowers ASL interpreters to navigate healthcare settings with confidence and precision. Participants will explore specialized medical terminology, linguistic nuances, and cultural dynamics unique to healthcare. A central focus is placed on the art of asking clear, effective questions and the use of consecutive interpreting techniques to ensure accurate communication during critical provider-patient interactions
• You’re Not You When You’re Interpreting: Authentically Conveying the Consumer – $25.00
  We will explore how self-awareness, ethics, preparation, wellness, and professional presence shape effective interpreting. Participants will learn to assess assignment readiness, apply the Code of Professional Conduct, maintain professional boundaries, and intentionally manage affect, register, and presence so the person being interpreted—not the interpreter—comes through authentically.
  Participants will practice conveying specific affects using an Affect Wheel, while peers identify the affect being portrayed. This activity provides an opportunity to evaluate the clarity, authenticity, and effectiveness of their affective expression. (This spinning wheel will auto generates names and I’ll have a separate wheel that has a display of different types of emotions)
